Route SWCP Overview
The SWCP is a well defined path hugging coast of UK along the Atlantic Ocean and English Chanel. Our walk of about 500k will start in Minehead on the edge of Exmoor National Park and finish at the port of Falmouth in the south of Cornwall. The path is extremely well described by Paddy Dillon in the Cicerone guide book The South West Coast Path. Paddy Dillon also provided precise GPS markers so the entire route could be seen in Google Earth. As the GPS points are only a few metres apart, the distances he nominates should be quite accurate, unlike our 2014 trip where our Tour de Monte Rosa following Hlliary Sharp;s book of teh same name, was fraught with wrong distance, often between 30% and 50% longer than stated in her book - a recipe for disaster, than turned our 20k and 7 hre walk into 28k and 10 hrs.

I’ll be carrying a set of 3 maps of teh South West Coast Path by Harvey at 1:40,000, but we’re not expecting to get lost in a snow blizzard.
