Highlight was catching up with John again in Truro before catching the train to London then home.

A rather bleak morning as we awake to a messy room with our gear yet to be sorted and packed. After a rough pack, it’s down to breakfast with a fabulous view over Falmouth harbour.  More sausages and bacon to take with us for tonights dinner.

A short walk dow to the station called Falmouth Town before catching the 8.53am train to Truro.  Tickets were bought on the train.  After a bit of a mix up meeting John ( we waited on opposite sides of the station exit), it’s a short walk through Truro to the magnificent cathedral, designed by the architect, John Loughborough Pearson, who had also designed St John’s cathedral in Brisbane.  A wander through Marks and Spencers to buy bread and cheese for dinner tonight before heading to the museum, where Susie assured us they had great scones and coffee and she was right. Big white fluffy scones with jam and real clotted cream, with full cream milk cappuccino.

We say goodbye to John before he drops us in his van at Truro Station for the 12.53 train to London.  The train trip of 4hrs 30 mins arrives at Paddington about 5.30pm and it’s only a short walk to the platform to catch the Heathrow Express to Heathrow Airport.  In 40 minutes we’re at Terminal 3 and wait for the shuttle train to take us to Terminal 4.  Another 5 minutes we’re at the Premier Hotel, staffed by mostly Pakistanis who speak very little English.  Despite problems checking in, the room is perfect. A beautiful big bed, in a big room with a big shower, all spotlessly clean and for only $120 per night.

After a good nights sleep, we’ve had bread and jam/muesli for breakfast, packed and out the door by 7.30am walking the 5 mins to Terminal 4.  The 10.50am Etihad flight to Abu Dhabi is not full and we're given business class seats immediately .  A very relaxing flight 6hr with lunch and a movie and at midnight, we land in Abu Dhabi.  The airport is almost deserted, and we’re lucky enough to score business class seats at the transfer desk for the next leg which departs at 2.45am.  Time for a 5 minute shower at Gate 35 before boarding.

Another very comfortable flight with dinner, then a short sleep before arriving in Sydney at 5.30pm where we meet Tom and Kez for coffee and dinner at Macca’s before boarding the 9pm flight home to Brisbane.

Another wonderful hiking trip.  What’s next? Italy I think.
