Highlight today was of course another 22k walk around the English Garten in Munich.
We slept in this morning until 7am after a late night packing. After a cup of jet boiled tea, a shower we're off to Aldi and Decathlon to do some shopping for the grandkids and we’re back at 11.30am for a cup of coffee - with cream - that we bought from Aldi while we were there. Then at midday we’re off to the English Garten again via Marienplatz.
It’s a beautiful cool day, tops of 22°C, and bue skies as we wander from the South to the North English Garten and stop at 2pm for lunch of bread and cheese from Aldi with a cup of tea. Back down past the Chinese tower built in 1790, destroyed in the war in 1944, and re built in 1951. It has the second largest beer garden in Munich, holding 7,500 people. There’s a band playing - typical German Music as most of the customers are over 40, not yuppy teenagers. Then back through the South English Garten to Marienplatz and the Viktualienmarkt where we have a beer with a few nuts and salty German bread, then share a plate of sausage and cabbage salad. We’re not that hungry after a late lunch.
Walking back in the cool of the evening, we stop at the Bahnhof to buy 2 tickets to Munich Airport in the morning, taking about half an hour to deciper the English/German. Then down the road to the supermarket Lidl and back to the Euro Youth hotel for a freebie beer with vouchers given to us on our arrival. More packing, rather stuffing, our suitcase which was supposed to have more room now since we ate all our coffee, sugar, powdered milk and spicy fruit rolls that we brought over, but it’s even fuller now.
Bed at 9am ready for our Etihad Flight home.
