There are six AV routes through the Dolomites, all running parallel North to South and we chose the AV2 because it passed closest to the famous Mamnolada, the highest peak in the Dolomites, and we thought it would be less crouded that the AV1 which is popular with tour groups, being a slightly easier route. Because of difficulties in booking huts at the beginning and end, I varied the route to an 11 day 120k hike, beginning at Rifugio Puez and finishing near Rifugio Rosetta.
