As usual, I try to make my pack as light as possible. In 2018 I probably went a bit overboard with a super light 25 litre Mac backpack of 800g which made my shoulders ache as there was not enough hip belt support so this year I’m opting for my 45 litre Deuter, almost 1kg heavier at 1,680 grams, with much a betterhip belt. I usually take this back pack on walks like the Three Capes and Overland Track where we need to carry more food and sleeping gear. It’s very comfy with a heavy load, so that’s what I’m taking this time to the UK. The weather will be wet windy and cold, so good raingear is essential. But despite the weather, we must take our Jetboil plus coffee, tea, sugar powdered milk and cups for that mid morning coffee break. There’s nothing like a hot cup of tea or coffee on top of a cliff, when there are no shops around.
