Newquay: 4k walk around Pentire headland
Accommodation: John’s place Pentire, Newquay
I’m awake at 2am in the morning and have a cup of tea while watching the sky quickly lighten up - it’s only 2 weeks to the longest day in the year in the UK. The rain has stopped but the UK Metro says it’s 9°C outside. I blog and email for a few hours before having breakfast of a few nuts and porridge from a sachet that my host had left in the room.
At 6am, I order a Bolt taxi which arrives 8 minutes later in drizzly rain. It’s only a 7 minute trip back to Treminal 3 Manchester Airport where I sit and wait for Checkin to open at 6.30am. The flight leaves on time at 8.35am and arrives in Newquay at 10am where I'm met by my brother John. It’s a cold 10°C and damp as we drive to John’s place in Newquay. A cup of tea and we’re soon off to walk around the headland. So cold and windy, our ears were burning. Back at the house, it’s time to sort my gear into hiking and leaving behind, before a lovely lunch of cheeses and bread. A bit more sorting then dinner of lamb cutlets and salad with a Villa Maria San Blanc. After chatting for hours, we’re in bed by 9pm.
